About the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded in 1808 as an advisory body to the Dutch Government – a role that it continues to play today.

For science and scholarship

The Academy is also responsible for ten national research institutes and three institutes that provide research infrastructure.

Governance and organisation

The Academy Board defines the overall policy and budget. The director general has overall responsibility for day-to-day management of the Academy.
